TRIAL OF OLISEH METUH “Portends Era of Politicking in Labeling and Cajoling with Intimidation” – Dr Dabin
The case of Oliseh Metuh is observed to have ‘brought to an end to the fight against corruption’ that has trailed the claims of the APC in Nigeria, which in effect has also shown that the (APC) party has formerly declared its lack of political philosophy, looking at it from the streams of arbitration going on.
This assertion was made by the former chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, Dr. Haruna Dabin, when he was speaking to some newsman in his residence in Jos on Friday, while reacting to the arrests of Metuh recently. He said the act of bringing Metuh to court in handcuffs by the APC led-government alone had received general public condemnation.
While condemning the arrest of the former NSA, who was said to have been granted bail but was rearrested several times, Dr Dabin posited that even those who visited Dasuki – including Dasuki’s close associate – were also arrested; adding that, the arrest of the PDP spokesman is ‘politically motivated to destroy the party legacy under the leadership of the APC-led regime.’
According to him, “APC is telling us that the era of politicking is already labeling and cajoling with intimidation;” adding that, “the scenario is to make sure that the opposition is not in existence.”
Dr. Dabin disclosed further that, this shows that there is no plan to rule rather than to be threatening leadership – a development, which is not good for democracy.
He said, “APC was a creation out of PDP, because PDP created a lot of space that they were expanded exclusiveness of politicians;” adding that, “APC cannot destroy opposition. Look at the illegality and watch the legality; whether there is equity or not, Goodluck Jonathan is a political hero.”
He explained further that, “their target is to create confusion so that we can end up fighting ourselves,” adding that, “I don’t think PDP failed, but it is democratically right to make statements.”
According to him, “the fact is that, resources were spent by the former President, Goodluck Jonathan, which brought credibility to Nigeria’s democracy, and which the APC benefited from the gesture, too.”
Dr Dabin described Metuh as a refined gentleman, who has contributed a lot to the development of Nigeria’s democracy, saying, “you don’t take accused person in handcuffs; the international law forbids that; unless the person demonstrates some high degree of violence.”
According to him, his refusal to support the candidature of Late Sen. GNS Pwajok was safe for the citizens of the state from Jang’s ‘slavery and dictatorship’ agenda; adding that, “plateau citizens would have been slaves to the immediate past governor, Jonah David Jang, if that decision was not taken. It was for the interest of the next generations unborn that we opposed Pwajok, in order to unite the people of the state.”
He further said that, “APC is not a political party but a collection of desperate group of persons, who are so desperate to grab power at all costs; adding that, “the deputy governor, Prof Sonny Tyoden, contested under the platform of PDP in the primaries but when he discovered that he couldn’t win, he left to join the APC.”
According to him, “the worst members in PDP are those who left to APC; we hope to bounce back in 2019. It is out of provocation that the people voted for the APC government.”
He said, “I can jump to another political platform, and I believe PDP will take over Plateau state in 2019. APC is not a party; it is a collection of desperate people who are eager to be in power.”
According to Dr Dabin, “the failure of PDP is the beginning of the failure of Nigeria, because it is the only party that has a national outlook.”
