Senator Sani climbs Kufena Rock, promises to sponsor Bill on it
Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Comrade Shehu Sani, has promised to sponsor a Bill before the National Assembly with a view to making Kufena Rock in Zaria local government area of Kaduna State ‘Centre of Tourist Attraction.’
Senator Sani, in a statement posted in Kaduna at the weekend, announced this shortly after coming down from the Rock, which he described as one with the monumental places in the country that needs to be upgraded to tourism status because of the historical background it has.
He pointed out that Kufena was the Palace of the Zazzau Kingdom before it was relocated to Turunku hundreds of years ago, adding that there was the need for turning the place to centre of attraction for tourists.
“You see this Rock, if it becomes centre of attraction it would no doubt boost revenue generation for our dear State and the Nation at large. Though I’m not from the opposition, I climbed Kufena Rock and came down safely,” said the Senator. Sani, however, lamented that a historical place like Kufena Rock was neglected.
Receiving the Senator, Sarkin Fulani Kufena, Mallam Shehu Jumare, expressed appreciation over the visit to the Rock, in order to find out its historical background. He pointed out that this was the first time a highly placed personality like the Senator visited the area – and the Rock – for such a purpose. The Sarkin Fulani, therefore, called on leaders, particularly politicians, to borrow a leaf from the Senator.
It could be recalled that few months ago, the State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, was quoted on media to have said that anyone who is not satisfied with his administrative style should climb the Rock and fall, a statement that generated a lot of controversies across the state.
