President’s Wife Donates Food Items Worth Millions To Less-privileges In Kano
Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, on Thursday donated assorted food items worth millions of Naira to the less-privileged persons in Kano state. Speaking, while presenting the items, Mrs Buhari said the gesture was aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the less-privileged persons in the state.
Aisha expressed concern over the high rate of divorce in the society and urged the government and traditional institutions to enlighten the people on the dangers associated with the ugly trend. She noted that most of the children roaming the streets, and often get involved in unlawful activities, were from broken homes.
Mrs. Buhari advised the governments at all levels, parents and religious leaders alike, to collaborate and find ways of stemming the tide of divorce in the society. Also speaking, Dr. Hafsat Ganduje (wife of Kano State Governor), thanked the President’s wife for the gesture.
Mrs Ganduje urged the people of the state to exercise patience with the government, as the expected change was a ‘gradual process.’ Mrs Buhari also visited the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, at his Palace and Kano Central Prison, where she also donated drugs worth over N6 million to the inmates. Items also donated include: 1,000 bags each of rice, semovita, wheat flour, sugar and salt, among others. It would be recalled that Aisha donated trailer-loads of food items to Kaduna residents last month.
