Police Debunks Imposing State of Emergency In Kaduna
The Kaduna state command of the Nigeria Police Force has debunked media reports of declaring state of emergency in the state, saying, it is only the president or state government that has the power to make such declaration.
A statement by the spokesperson of the state Command, DSP Zubairu Abubakar, countered the report credited to him by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), noting that, the command only changed the security architecture of the state to rid it from the spate of kidnapping.
According to him, the statement is baseless, frivolous and malicious, capable of tarnishing the good image of the command, adding that the state is calm and peaceful. “As Command PPRO, I have no jurisdiction or capacity to release any statement on the exalted office of Inspector-General of Police,” he said. He, however, urged media practitioners to always clarify stories so as to avoid misquoting in their reports.
