Plateau State University Receives Accreditation for 17 Courses in Bokkos
17 courses have been fully accredited in the Plateau State University, Bokkos, by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Doknan Sheni, disclosed this to some journalists in Bokkos recently, when he said the institution needed the accreditation to operate as a full-fledged university.
According to him, “Thank God, now our 17 programmes in the four faculties have been accredited by the NUC,” adding that, with the accreditation, the university would admit more than 1,000 to 4,000 students in the 2016/2017 academic year.
He explained further that, the university had been admitting between 300 to 400 students, and commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund for assisting the university with 4 billion naira in its infrastructural development.
Prof Sheni said, “Even though we need 5.6 billion naira for the completion of some of the ongoing and new projects to the desired infrastructural development, we have what it takes to admit more students now.”
He further said, “For more than ten years now, we have been operating as if we are not a university, without one of our courses being accredited.”
