Plateau Govt urged to offset judicial staff salaries
The Plateau State governor, Barr Simon Bako Lalong, has been called upon to ensure that all outstanding salaries and arrears of lawyers in the state are settled for quick service delivery.
The Chief Judge, Justice Pius Damulak, made this known on Monday during this year’s Legal Day celebration in Jos High Court. He said the offset of the judiciary staff salaries will help for easy dispensation of justice.
According to him, for easy dispensation of justice in the state, a committee has been set up, headed by the chief judge, with the NBA chairman and comptroller of prisons, to minimize criminal delay system.
He assured government of their determination to improve on the revenue generation within the judiciary and a sustained relationship with the state government.
Speaking also, plateau state governor, Barr Simon Lalong, said the wheel of government is being driven by the judicial arms of government who interpret the temple of justice and preserve healthy working environment for democracy to function.
He said that, government will not rest to see the completion of ongoing projects and building of shopping molls within the High Court premises.
Governor Lalong reminded the gathering that the state is still waiting for the bailout funds to assist in the payment of workers’ salaries.
