Over-Speeding: FRSC Threatens To Fine Motorist In Plateau
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau state has threatened to arrest and fine any motorist engaging in over speeding or carrying overload while using the roads.
FRSC Unit Commander of Pankshin Zonal Command, Mr Ikeh Akabogu, stated this on Thursday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Pankshin; where he expressed sadness over the rate of accidents and deaths, caused as a result of over speeding in the area.
According to him, “enough is enough of the waste of innocent lives.”
“This is the more reason why the Federal Government has initiated the Speed Limiter Devices meant to regulate the speed of motorists and save the lives of innocent Nigerians.
“The present government does not want anybody to die, and so those who don’t want to die should key into the speed limiter devices.
“Life has no duplicate; once it is lost it can’t be regain, therefore there is need for people to key to the new safety policy of the government to save lives,” he noted.
Akabogu further pointed out that, FRSC would embark on intense public enlightenment of the devices.
While calling on commuters to always caution drivers on over speeds while traveling, he also advised them to report anyone found wanting and also desist from joining vehicles that carries overload.
On drivers’ license and vehicle particulars, Akabogu, charged motorists to ensure they get papers from the appropriate authorities to avoid been arrested.
