National Congress of Democrats suspends top officials
A group known as the National Congress of Democrats (NCN) has suspended its national chairman and secretary, Dogon-Yaro Bibi and Yakubu Alhaji Jibrin, respectively, from the group for allegedly embarking activities that violate the NCN constitution.
A communiqué signed by the Congress Interim Chairman of the NCN and Secretary, Comrade Mu’azu Azare and Ibrahim Ahmad Anka of the NCN and issued to newsmen at the end of their meeting held at late Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Tomb in Bauchi unanimously resolved to suspend the two officials of the congress.
It could be recall that of recent Bibi has been speaking tough against Governor Mohammed Abduallahi Abubakar’s administration.
The communiqué further stated that, “the national chairman, Alh. Abubakar Dogon-Yaro and the secretary, Yakubu Alhaji Jibrin, are hereby suspended due
to corruption practices leveled against them.”
The communiqué further directed that, all properties belonging to the association in the custody of the suspended officials should be handed over to the interim secretary, Ibrahim Ahmad Anka, with immediate effect.
According to the communiqué, an 11-man Investigative Committee under the chairmanship of Isiaka Hassan has been set up to investigate the allegations leveled against the suspended officials of the NCN.
They further disclosed that Comrade Mu’azu Azare and Ibrahim Ahmad Anka should act as the interim chairman and secretary, respectively, of the congress pending the determination of the allegations leveled against the two suspended officials of the congress, and warned them (Bibi and Jibrin)against parading themselves as leaders of the NCN.
The communiqué also outlined allegations leveled against the suspended leaders, which include incompetence, using the organization to pursue selfish interests, and engaging in campaign of calumny and character assassination, among others.
It advised the public to henceforth disregard any statement emanating from any of the suspended officials of the congress as they seized to be leaders of the NCN.
