Middle-Belt Traditional Rulers And Chiefs Are Urgently Called To Stop Attending The So-Called Northern Meeting Of Chiefs
The Northern Emirs are the remnants of the feudal elements in the north. Their organization is a product of colonialism promoting conditions of imbalance in economic and other opportunities between them and the Middle-Belt people. They have been known to be exploiting all situations for their own good and personal gains.
It is a force manipulating governments and institutions, specialized in putting their own wards in strategic political positions and economy, controlling the action of persons or groups to achieve their purposes, knowing the goals, purpose and method of that control and without even the Middle-Belt Chiefs being aware that a form of control is being exercised on them.
They cover themselves with their religion and ethnic disguises in order to further entrench divisions among the Rulers and Chiefs of the Middle-Belt Region and their people, ensuring slowdown of their awakening at any cost. They cause disunity among the Middle-Belt Rulers and Chiefs and even their people. They have always been exploiting every situation for their own individual personal good.
They serve as godfathers for the recruitment, training and posting of their administrative professional personnel, both to fill the northern quota at the Federal and State levels. In addition, they compete for Board positions and large numbers of them won contracts often and only to re-sell them to their foreign or local capitalists.
They have curved out for themselves a kingdom of the opulence and affluence, while the Middle-Belt Rulers and Chiefs, along with their people, are consigned to lower positions where “squalor collide with pain on the streets.”
Traditional Rulers and Chiefs of the Middle-Belt are once more reminded of the suffering, cheating and enslavement of their people over the years. Why discuss with people, who reject and betray you and your people at every twist and turn? Why discuss with people, who will stab you to death from behind at the slightest opportunity?
How many Middle-Beltans occupy very important positions of responsibility as ministers, directors, senators and the like? Their main interest is to the disadvantage of the Middle-Belt people. They have been busy amassing ill-gotten wealth for themselves and their immediate families, which they display with arrogant impunity before the poor masses of the Middle-Belt people. Let the so-called Northern Chiefs tell us: how many people of the Middle-Belt origin have they cared to build up economically and politically? How many of the Middle-Belt youth have they helped to secure jobs and to ensure their personal economic empowerment?
One can easily see the picture of Middle-Belt people and their youth wickedly denied access to economic prosperity, higher positions in the universities and tertiary institutions just to ensure they remain eternal paupers in the hands of the Hausa/Fulani Chiefs. Enough is enough.
Traditional Rulers and Chiefs of the Middle-Belt are hereby urgently and strongly advised to form their own meeting separate from that of the Hausa/Fulani Emirs where they will discuss issues that affect their people and the youth and meet the urgent needs of the struggling people of the Middle-Belt zone, which they represent. Enough of religious pretense and political arrogance.
