Kano Govt purchases vehicles worth N300m for security agencies
Kano state government has purchased and distributed 9 new assorted vehicles and eight fairly-used ones, in addition to refurbished 12 vans for security agencies in the state, at a total cost of N292,625,015.50.
A breakdown of the donation shows that the NDLEA got two new Toyota Hilux vans; state HISBA Command had three new Toyota Hilux vans; NSCDC with two new Toyota Hilux vans, while the State Sports Commission got a new Coaster bus and a new Corolla saloon car.
The state road traffic agency, KAROTA, received six fairly used Toyota vans and two fairly used towing vehicles, even as the Nigerian Army 3 Brigade Kano had 12 of its vehicles refurbished. This is sequel to 16 brand new vehicles donated to the brigade recently, by the state government.
In his remarks during the handing over of the vehicles, the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, explained that the state would continue to assist security agencies as part of the government’s commitment towards ensuring sustainable peace and security.
“Kano must be safe for businesses to thrive. People must be secure to conduct their day-to-day endeavors. Without peace, we cannot sustain the position of Kano as the commercial nerve center of this part of the country, if security does not remain a top priority,” he stated.
Dr. Ganduje noted with happiness that with the support of the state government, security agencies in the state have succeeded in reducing armed robbery significantly, while criminal activities have been abated in Falgore Forest in Doguwa local government area.
In this regard, he charged the security agencies to sustain their gallantry and make best use of the vehicles donated to them.
In his brief remarks on behalf of the benefitting agencies, the state NDLEA Commander, Alhaji Hamza Umar, mni, expressed appreciation to the Ganduje administration for its moral, financial and logistic support to security agencies in the state, stating that the assistance would help in making their jobs easier.
