Kano Govt Gives KASCO N500 Million Life Line
In order to ensure all-year round production of fertilizer, Kano state government has procured raw materials worth N500 million for the production of the commodity by the state-owned Kano State Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO).
The state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, made this known, while conducting the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbe, round the resuscitated company’s production plants at Bompai in Kano metropolis.
He said the fertilizer blending company, which is currently back on its feet, is capable of producing affordable fertilizer that is Nigerian-soil friendly and easily applicable.
Dr. Ganduje explained that, “What the company is producing is not specifically for a particular geographical location,” adding that the company’s products have not been found to be inimical to the country’s soil in the long run.
Noting that the imported fertilizer may not be as effective as the one made especially for local soils, the governor called on states of the federation to approach KASCO on how it can produce fertilizer that matches local conditions for them.
He mainlined that the revived company has been reinvigorated to work throughout the year, pointing out that farmers in the state have no reason to worry as adequate farm commodities would be provided to them directly for dry and rainy season farming.
While praising workers of the company for their dedication, the governor promised that they would be supplied with uniforms, boots and protective gloves to enhance their efficiency.
In his remarks, the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, promised to advise state governments in the country to patronize KASCO products in view of its quality and the technical expertise of its workers.
While commending Kano state government for giving agriculture absolute attention, the minister saluted the management of the company for working hard to turn around its fortunes.
