Kano Assembly Impeaches Chief Whip Over Kwankwaso
Kano political face off has taken a new twist as the State Assembly has finally impeached its Chief Whip, Zubairu Mamuda, for recognizing the former governor of the state, Rabiu Kwankwaso, as leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mamuda, who represents Madobi constituency, the country home of Kwankwaso, was impeached following a motion moved by a member representing Nassarawa Local Government Area, Ibrahim Gama, on the floor of the House.
Gama, otherwise known as Lugard, stressed that Mamuda’s removal became necessary due to his disloyalty to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. The house unanimously adopted the motion and immediately removed Mr. Mamuda. The members immediately replaced Mamuda with Labaran Madari, a member representing Warawa constituency.
It would be recalled that the chief whip’s problem started Thursday when he was allegedly sacked for being loyal to the former governor, Sen. Kwankwaso.
