Kaduna State Security Operatives recover Over 150 Cattle in Lebere bush
Over 150 cattle have been recovered by the Kaduna State Joint Operation Yaki and the Anti-Robbery Patrol Team of Kajuru Division in Lebere bush in Kajuru Local Area of the state. The recovered animals include 145 cows, 20 sheep, and one donkey.
Samuel Aruwan, who is spokesman to the state Governor, confirmed the development and said the cattle were recovered by the security personnel as the rustlers fled into the bush.
Aruwan said the troops acted on a tip-off. He noted that, investigation is still in progress to apprehend the fleeing rustlers, while the animals are to be conveyed to the state distribution centre.
Earlier, in July 2015, combined teams of security operatives recovered at least 2,000 cattle from rustlers at a forest in Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of the State where eight rustlers were arrested, while three were killed.
In September, military operation against cattle rustlers operating in Kamuku and Kuyanbana forests that cut across Kaduna, Niger, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi States, has led to the recovery of more than 2000 cattle.
