KADUNA STATE: Alleged students’ killings in College of Education Gidan Waya as fake, fallacy – Provost
Provost, College of Education Gidan Waya, Kaduna state, Prof. Emmanuel Joseph Chom, has refuted media reports on killings of 5 students of the college, saying, no single student was killed by Fulani herdsmen as claimed.
The provost, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Kaduna, said the school was on vacation, and no student was resuming at the time the reports of killing was published.
Prof Chom also denied any knowledge of a student bearing James Joseph of Mass Communication Department, who was killed, or a relation of Joseph James claiming to confirm the killing, describing it as fake, mischievous and blackmail, as there is no Mass Communication course being offered in the college till date.
It would be recalled that some media reported that five students of the College of Education, Gidan Waya, in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, were, Sunday evening of 22nd January, 2017, reportedly shot dead close to Gidan Waya.
The media reports alleged that that the incident occurred when a commercial car taking the students to school from Kafanchan was waylaid by herdsmen.
