Work has begun in earnest for the installations of CCTV cameras across Kaduna state. This was made known by the Adviser to Governor El-Rufai on Internal Security and Coordination of “Operation Yaki,” Hon Yakubu Yusufu Soja.
Yakubu Soja, who disclosed this Wednesday in a briefing to journalists at the Correspondent Chapel of NUJ Kaduna, with regards to the 1 year in office of El-Rufai regime, also said procurement of Unmanned Arial Vehicles (UAVs), otherwise known as drones, and training of their operatives to man the equipment in order to provide citywide security, was also in progress.
According to him, trained operatives would, at all times, be using the UAV Technology for speedy response to security challenges by getting immediate awareness of incidents in its quest to fight against crime and criminality.
The coordinator said plans were also underway by the state government to provide modern crime-detecting devices and more operative vehicles to the joint outfit, in order to stand the test of time in withstanding the security challenges in terms of intelligence gathering, pin down and surveillance throughout the state; adding that part of the effort was to create jobs and businesses.
Similarly, Yakubu said provisions have been made for the procurement of one thousand bullet-proof vests and helmets, in order to safeguard lives and to boost the morale and combat readiness of the operatives at all times.
He disclosed that the backlog of death benefits to Next-of-Kins of their personnel, who lost their lives, while discharging their duties, have been cleared by the administration to boost the morale of the operatives and complement the achievements so far recorded. According to Yakubu, over the years the operatives has recorded huge success in areas of crime control and reduction with arrests, trial and sentences of cattle rustlers, kidnappers, armed robbers, gangs of illicit drugs and miscreants, among others.
