Igbo Woman Allegedly Beheaded In Kano Over ‘Blasphemy’ Against Prophet
Pandemonium struck in Wambai area of Kano State Thursday, after an angry Muslim Youths allegedly beheaded an Igbo female trader for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Mohammed.
The incident is coming barely a week after an outbreak of religious violence and the purported killing of a Christian over alleged blasphemous comments about Prophet Mohammed in Niger State.
The Public Relations Officer of Kano Police Command (PPRO), DSP Musa Magaji, who confirmed the incident, reportedly said that the victim, who was said to be of Igbo extraction, was accused of blasphemy during a religious argument at Wambai market.
The woman (name withheld), who sold plastic items at the local market, was in the company of her husband when she was murdered; but for the timely intervention of the police, the husband would have been equally lynched. She was said to have blasphemed Prophet Mohammed, which did not go down well with the mob attackers.
The PPRO said at about 4:30pm on Thursday, there was a disagreement between the murdered woman and some traders bordering on religion, when the irate mob pounced on her and killed her over “some comments.”
