Horror: Kaduna Students Now Parade Schools With Dangerous Weapons – Security Reports
Security reports available to Kaduna State Government from security agencies have it that some school students have formed the habit of frequenting various schools with dangerous weapons such as cutlasses and long knives, among others, the Special Assistant on Media to Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, has revealed.
The media assistant, who disclosed this, while briefing newsmen in Kaduna Friday said, in view of this, the state government has appealed to parents, wards, school authorities and the citizens to help security agencies in bringing to the forefront the any students found with such weapons.
Mr. Samuel Aruwan said this would enable the government to manage any repercussion that the state may witness because of such behaviours. On the issue of rape, Mr. Aruwa disclosed that the state government will ensure that rapists across the state are brought to book in every means necessary, including incarceration, jail terms or even hanging, to serve as deterrent to others.
According to him, “the warning comes on the background of Mallam Hassan Tukur, who was remanded in prison after he was arraigned in court recently for the rape of a minor in Malali, Kaduna, and had once secured bail on the same case of rape.” Mr. Aruwa assured that the State Judicial System and security agencies were working together to enhance the capacity to thwart rape and secure justice for all its victims.
The Special Assistance on Media stressed that the cases and report of rape of minors in the state cannot be overemphasized; hence the need for the state government to solicit for the support and cooperation of the media in fighting the menace.
In this regard, he said, the state government has suspended the Village Head of Malali Gabbas, Alhaji Abdul-Rahid Yakubu, for his involvement on issues related to fraud, breach of trust and land-grab through the State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The governor extended his sincere gratitude to citizens of the state for being vigilant and committed to peace and security, and appealed to the public, particularly parents and guardians, to provide useful information to security agencies.
