Hisbah Board Arrests 31 Teenage Girls for ‘Immoral’ Acts in Kano
Kano State Hisbah Board, the state internal security outfit, said it has arrested 31 young girls for alleged involvement in immoral acts. Malam Sani Tanko, the Public
Relations Officer of the board, who disclosed this in Kano on Friday, said that the suspects were apprehended in a hotel during a special operation at Sabon Gari area in Kano metropolis.
“All the 31 arrested suspects were females and mostly teenagers. Our men were able to arrest these girls at Sabon Gari area in Kano at about 3 pm of last Monday. We screened them and immediately released those who are first-time offenders on bail, while those who are habitual offenders were referred to the legal department for further legal action,” he said.
He added that those, whose parents refused to claim them, would be taken to court for proper prosecution. “We always encourage good deeds and discourage bad ones,” Tanko said. He advised parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children to enable them become useful members of the society and contribute their quota to the development of the country.
An insider, who pleaded anonymity, told our reporter that majority of those apprehended were ‘club girls’ of about 18 and above, and have been in the illicit business for a living, for a long time, in the Christian dominated area of Sabin Gari Kano.
