Gunmen Kidnap Kano Legislator’s Mother, Demand N50m Ransom
Gunmen have kidnapped the aged step-mother of Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim, a member of Kano State House of Assembly representing Doguwa Constituency, demanding for N50 million as ransom.
The member, who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Kano on Monday, said that the hoodlums abducted the woman on Sunday in Ririwai town, near the notorious Falgore forest.
“The Falgore forest is known and serves as a den for cattle rustlers and other criminal activities,” he said.
“My step mother, Hajiya Hafsat Abubakar, was in her room when they invaded the house,” he said, adding that the abductors had since demanded for a N50 million ransom from the family.
When contacted, the Police Commissioner, Mr Muhammad Katsina, confirmed the incident and disclosed that four suspects had been arrested.
“We have arrested four persons in connection with the issue and they are helping us on investigation. Their intention was to kidnap the member,” the police official said.
He said that the command’s anti-kidnapping squad is already combing the Falgore forest to rescue the elderly woman.
