Govr. El-Rufai Inaugurates New Traffic, Environmental Agency
The Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has inaugurated the Kaduna State Traffic and Environmental Law Enforcement Agency (KASTELEA), following the disbandment of activities of the Vehicle Inspection Unit (VIO) in the state in 2015. The newly-created agency has led to a channel of 2,500 new jobs in the state.
During the passing-out parade and swearing-in ceremony of the new KASTELEA Officers, Governor El-Rufai tasked them to make sure vehicles that ply the roads are licensed and in good condition. He also urged them to work in accordance to the mandate and laws that established the agency.
The governor also commissioned the KASTELEA patrol vehicles, towing vans, and ambulances.
The 2,500 KASTELEA officials were trained on traffic and environmental management, while it is expected of them to ensure environmental order and safety, as well as control of traffic on public roads. They will also serve as an enforcement unit with a mandate to facilitate general orderliness in all public places.
