Gbagyi Villa Saga: Kadpoly Authority Divided Over Ceding Of Villa To Community
Kaduna Polytechnic authority is seemed to have been divided over advice to cede disputed Gbagyi Villa to the community and move to an alternative location.
A management staff of the Kadpoly told House of Representative committee on education sitting in Kaduna over the disputed land on Tuesday that the Polytechnic should quantify the property and seek alternative land through government and develop, for purpose of peace.
The suggestion made by the Polytechnic lawyer before the chairman, House Committee investigation holding at Asaah Pyramid Hotel was, however, disclaimed by the Rector.
The committee chairman had sought for the humble advice of the Poly Rector on how he wanted him to resolve the encroachment crises after presentations were made, but the request was turned down by the Rector on grounds that as Rector, he is only there to watch over the property on behalf of the federal government.
But the lawyer, who allegedly sought the opinion of the Rector to respond, is said to have enjoined the authority severally to cede the land to the community, adding that the teaching and learning could only take place in an atmosphere of peace and harmonious coexistence, but was rejected.
The committee, which is in Kaduna to respond to the distress call by the community, heard from the representative of Gbagyi Villa led by a chairman and secretary, and that the Polytechnic authority led by the Rector made their submissions on Tuesday.
The committee has scheduled meeting with the state government for tomorrow, Wednesday, to hear their post on the issue. It would be recalled that the crises over alleged encroachment on the Polytechnic land by the community had lingered for too long, and has created a hostile relationship between the two parties.
