Langtang and Pankshin general hospitals are said to have been allocated zero naira in the 2016 budget by the Simon Bako Lalong administration and the long neglected Jang Admau with spur to Jenta Mangoro linking Tudun Wada was included in the budget.
As a remedial impetus to this ‘lopsided’ development, Commissioner for Ministry of Finance, Tamwakat Gofwen, has sued for collaborative and synergy with government agencies to enhance the 2016 budget implementation.
Mrs Tamwakat said, a total budget estimated at four hundred and six billion, six hundred and ninety-six million, one hundred eight-five thousand, one hundred and eighteen (N406,696,185,118:00) is to place priority attention on works and administration.
The budget tagged, “Budget of Rescues and Hope,” according to the breakdown, is aimed at salvaging the people of plateau state from deprivation, insecurity and poverty, and to a state where people have hope and confidence in their leadership.
According to the commissioner, the recurrent revenue will gulp N73,235,594,197, while capital receipts will stand at N73,457,590,213 for plan (A) and N146,696,185,118 for grand total of plan (A) and (B).
She said, the capital expenditure is estimated at N146,696,185,118, representing 50.02 with special focus on the critical sectors like education, health, works, water supply and sanitation as well as the actualization of the Five-Pillar policy of the administration.
She said government has also allocated a handsome amount of over N3,321bn to agricultural sector as well as N5.357bn to land and urban development, adding that, “tourism sector is in dire need of revitalization to serve as major source of revenue earnings in the state.”
As such, the sum of N1.125bn has been earmark in the 2016 budget, and the sum of N400m is approved for the completion of the indoor theater, while the plateau tourism corporation has been allocated the sum of N323m for the expansion and rehabilitation of the Wild Life Park.
“Government is undertaking a comprehensive rehabilitation of its information and communications machinery, most especially the commencement of the digital broadcasting.”
According to her, the federal government is determined make the working environment very conducive to enhance productivity, especially for the private and public sectors, saying it was in this wise that the budget proposed over N23.394bn for government administration.
She said, in order to ensure that the budget is achievable the state government is working hard to harmonizing of taxes, fines, fees levis and rates between the state and local government and between the various MDAs.
