Court Impounds NNN Vehicles Over Staff Pension Arrears
Bailiff of the Federal High Court, Kaduna Division, has impounded some vehicles belonging to the New Nigerian Newspapers (NNN) in Kaduna. The action is in compliance with the execution of the court’s judgment obtained against the company and federal government by the pensioners for non-payment of pension arrears of over 15 years.
The retirees of the newspaper company had dragged the federal government and the company to court sometimes in 2011 seeking a declaration that they were bonafide federal government’s pensioners, and prayed the court to order the defendants to settle their current and accrued pension arrears.
The judgment of the court was delivered in October, 2013, in favour of the retirees, but all efforts by the pensioners to ensure that federal government and now New Nigerian Newspapers (NNN), obey the judgment of the court proved abortive, despite several SOS to President Muhammadu Buhari by the retirees.
