208 Students Of St Louis College Jos Receive Confirmation Sacrament
Not less than two hundred and eight (208) students of St Louis College, Jos, received the Sacrament of Confirmation by the Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Most Rev Dr Ignatius A Kaigama. Sacrament of Confirmation is believed by the Catholic Church as being the supernatural equivalent of the growth process on the natural level.
The Archbishop urged the students to be holy, pure, kind, good and missionaries to put their faith into practice so that people will see the light of God in them. He disclosed this during the Confirmation Mass, which held at Saint Louis Catholic Church, Jos, on Saturday, and charged them to always have faith and focus on Christ and God in their studies.
According to him, “We can cry and cry when in difficult moment, but we must pray,” and urged the students to always trust and maintain their faith in God anytime they are in trouble or have difficulties or problems with their studies or exams.
He called on them to also put their faith into action, and should try and know the meaning of their names, because that will inspire them to use names that could impact positively on their lives.
Confirmation is one of the Church’s seven sacraments through which Catholics pass in the process of their religious upbringing, which according to the Catholic doctrine, “in this sacrament, members of the Church are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthened in their Christian life.”
Conscience Triumph reports that, in the Catholic Church, anyone that has been baptized properly can, and should, be confirmed. Speaking also, the principal of the school, Rev Sister Irene-Mary Miaphen, commended the Archbishop for having confidence in them and also giving them freehand to run the school without his interference. According to her, the Sacrament of Confirmation “builds on what was begun in baptism and nourished in Holy Eucharist; it completes the process of initiation into the Christian community, and it matures the soul for the work ahead.
